ALPA Congratulates Newly Appointed Federal Transport Minister
OTTAWA, ONT.—Tim Perry, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) Canada, issued the following statement today after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unveiled the latest Cabinet, including the appointment of Pablo Rodriguez as Canada’s new minister of transport.
“ALPA would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez on his appointment. As ALPA Canada continues to grow, nearly doubling its membership since the last federal election, we look forward to working closely with the newly appointed minister. We also wish outgoing Transport Minister Omar Alghabra the best of luck in his future endeavours.
“When it comes to ensuring the safety and security of Canada’s aviation network, ALPA will remain an essential resource in the management of safety and the sustainability of the industry. We will continue to provide our unique perspective on the impact of government policy and issues facing our industry.
“Between now and the resumption of Parliament in September, we will be active in communicating ALPA Canada’s priorities and concerns to our elected officials and provide the solutions needed to move forward, through meetings on Parliament Hill, social media, official letters, and pilot-powered grassroots advocacy.”
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents more than 74,000 pilots at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines. Visit alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @ALPAPilots.
