Cargojet Pilots Open Negotiations Early on New Contract

Jul 17, 2025

HAMILTON, Ont.—Today, Cargojet pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), served Cargojet Airways Ltd. with written notice of their intent to open negotiations for their first ALPA-negotiated collective agreement.

“Our Company and our membership have grown significantly since our existing collective agreement was first negotiated. We are eager to negotiate an agreement that reflects our collective growth and paves a way for a strong pilot group and profitable Company,” said Cargojet Master Executive Council chair Captain Adam Brochu.

Although their contract expires in June of 2026, Cargojet pilots recently and overwhelmingly indicated interest in beginning negotiations early.

“Despite our shared interests, the MEC and management team understand that there will be tough discussions along the way,” Captain Brochu continued. “Over the last several months, however, we have mutually invested in building a collaborative and balanced labour relationship that makes room for those challenges. We intend to engage in a tough but fair negotiation that will deliver to our members their share of the opportunities that lay ahead for Cargojet.”

As the largest all-cargo airline in Canada, Cargojet provides services to all major cities around the globe, transporting more than 25 million pounds of air freight each week.
