TRANSAT A.T. Pilots Congratulate the Company for Fourth Quarter of Profit
Warn Pilots are Unified for a New Contract
MONTREAL, QUE.—This week, Air Transat pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), congratulated Transat A.T. Inc. on its fourth quarter of profitability. Capt. Bradley Small, chair of the Air Transat ALPA Master Executive Council, issued the following statement.
“We take pride in seeing the growing demand for our carrier, resulting in more robust results quarter after quarter. We are happy that our flight attendants have reached a new tentative agreement (TA), and we congratulate them on their hard work. Now it’s our turn. We are united, and preparations are underway for a long overdue negotiation for a new collective agreement, as the last one dates back to 2015.
“Over the past week, we’ve spent time with the Air Canada and WestJet pilots, who briefed us on their past and current hurdles and successes, which will help facilitate our own negotiations. This will be the first time the Air Transat pilots negotiate a new collective agreement after WestJet and Air Canada; learning from them is paramount.
The industry is now on track for another profitable year, and our pilots stand ready to negotiate a new contract that reflects the company’s financial achievement and shares in its success.”
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world's largest airline pilot union, representing more than 77,000 pilots at 43 airlines in the United States and Canada. Visit alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @ALPAPilots.
