Air Canada Pilots Demand Fair Contract at Informational Picket
Pilots to Picket at Pearson International Airport on Friday, September 29, 2023
TORONTO—As a decade-long, outdated contract expires, Air Canada pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), are conducting an informational picket on Friday, September 29, 2023. Hundreds of Air Canada pilots, supported by their peers from other airlines, will stand together, strong and unified, to demonstrate their resolve and solidarity in achieving a world-class, industry-leading contract.
Air Canada pilots are unified in their pursuit of a collective agreement that reflects today’s world and addresses career progression, job security, aviation safety, and, most importantly, closing the growing wage gap between the United States and Canada to continue to attract the best pilots in the industry. Air Canada pilots are proud of their profession and take their job of transporting passengers safely to their destinations very seriously.
“Air Canada pilots are united and dedicated to achieving the world-class contract our pilot group deserves. As we watch Air Canada cut routes due to an industry-wide shortage of pilots, we encourage them to close the growing wage gap between Canada and the United States,” said F/O Charlene Hudy, chair of the Air Canada Master Executive Council. “Air Canada has an opportunity to recognize the current market trends in the aviation sector and acknowledge the value and expertise our pilots bring to our company and passengers every day. Our pilots have invested in the airline; it’s time for them to invest in us.”
