Air Safety Organization Courses

Our Air Safety Organization (ASO) provides comprehensive year-round training courses to help aviation professionals stay ahead in safety practices and regulatory standards.
Ground Rules
ALPA policy requires that prior to attending any ASO training course, you must obtain the approval of the chair of your your Master Executive Council (MEC) Central Air Safety, Security, Jumpseat, or Pilot Assistance committee, or your MEC chair as appropriate. Additionally, the training courses are designed to be taken in sequence, therefore may require completing a prerequisite training program(s). By submitting your registration, you verify that you have:

Received the necessary MEC approval, as appropriate for you to attend the course, and
-
Have met that course’s prerequisites.

Aircrew Recovery Canada (ARC)
By invitation from ARC leadership only.
Accident Investigation Course (AIC)
The four-day course trains ALPA safety investigators in NTSB/TSB procedures, accident-response plans, and documents, including hands-on practice at a mock crash site.
Advanced Accident Investigation Course (AAIC)
The four-day course immerses ALPA safety investigators in NTSB/TSB procedures, accident-response plans, and documents, including hands-on training at a mock crash site.
Airport Safety Liaison Training
Airport safety liaisons are trained in ALPA policy on airport procedures, ground infrastructure, and hazard identification.
ASAP Workshop
This workshop aims to help ERC members collaborate on best practices by sharing ideas, reviewing key areas of the FAA’s Best Practices document, and discussing critical topics.
Bloodborne Pathogens Course
This training, provided for MEC accident investigation team members, ensures compliance with OSHA regulations for working at accident sites.
CIRP Individual Training
This course covers the core elements of a comprehensive crisis-intervention curriculum, preparing participants to understand and provide various crisis-intervention services.
CIRP Group Training
This course provides a comprehensive overview of crisis intervention, equipping participants with the knowledge to understand and deliver a range of crisis-intervention services.
CIRP Recurrent Training
This training enhances the skills of trained CIRP representatives through interactive practice sessions, building on previous crisis intervention training.
CIRP Group & Individual Training
This training is designed to prepare participants to serve as peer volunteers in the ALPA's CIRP network.
FAST Series - Fundamental ALPA Service Training (ALPA 101)
This is the initial course for all new ALPA pilot volunteers in safety, security, pilot assistance, and jumpseat.
Jumpseat Expert Training
This course covers jumpseat history, policy, and regulations in the U.S. and Canada.
Leadership & Advanced Safety Training (LAST) Course
This course provides hands-on, scenario-based training for Central Air Safety representatives.
Pilot Peer Support Initial Training Course
This course trains national and MEC Pilot Assistance volunteers to support fellow pilots facing personal challenges and stress.
Pilot Peer Support Recurrent Training Course
This course provides refresher training for national and MEC Pilot Assistance volunteers supporting pilots through personal challenges and stress.
Professional Standards Training
This course trains newcomers in professional standards, including case handling and role-playing exercises.
Safety 101 (Initial Safety Training)
Safety 101 IST covers ASO and safety group roles, MEC support, and accident investigation with the NTSB and TSB.
Security 101
This course helps new MEC Security chairs and coordinators understand their roles, ALPA procedures, structure, and security priorities.
