Regularly scheduled seminars, workshops, and forums provide ALPA experts the opportunity to collaborate with their peers at other pilot groups, as well as industry and government stakeholders.
Air Safety Forum
Audience: Members and the aviation community
When: Annually: September 8-11, 2025 (Hilton Chicago, Chicago, Ill.)
About: Experts from around the globe gather for ALPA's annual Air Safety Forum. This event offers unmatched collaborative and networking opportunities to discuss critical topics facing not just the piloting profession but the entire industry. The four-day conference commences with private ALPA Air Safety Organization sessions, then opens to the public for hot-topic discussions and keynotes. Capping off the event is an awards banquet that highlights the outstanding accomplishments of ALPA pilots.
Training Programs Coordinator Workshop
Audience: ASO leadership and trainers, ALPA Engineering and Air Safety Department management and staff support
When: Annually
About: The Training Programs coordinator conducts this workshop with all ASO course directors and staff to review the training programs ALPA provides. It includes an administrative and academic areas as they pertain to the previous year and future activities of each course.
Aviation Security Forum
Audience: Members and the aviation security community at large
When: Annually, in conjunction with the Air Safety Forum: September 8-11, 2025 (Hilton Chicago, Chicago, Ill.)
About: Educates pilots, government, and industry representatives on current aviation security issues. Features experts from various security disciplines who present information on a variety of topics over two-and-a-half days. A registration fee is charged for non-ALPA members.
Aviation Jumpseat Forum
Audience: Jumpseat representatives
When: Annually, in conjunction with the Air Safety Forum: September 8-11, 2025 (Hilton Chicago, Chicago, IL)
About: A multiday forum hosted by ALPA Aviation Jumpseat that brings together Jumpseat representatives from all reaches of the airline industry to improve relationships and discuss jumpseat issues. This productive assembly reviews current issues affecting the entire jumpseating community, examines individual airlines’ problems and solutions, and shapes better jumpseat agreements.
CIRP Chairs Meeting
Audience: Members, targeted to MEC CIRP chairs
When: Annually
About: This CIRP chairs’ meeting/training course is oriented toward helping CIRP chairs manage their committees and share information from their respective properties.
HIMS Advanced Topic Seminar
Audience: Members and nonmembers
When: Annually
About: Presents information on identifying, treating, and rehabilitating pilots with substance abuse problems. ALPA’s Aeromedical Office and Legal Department facilitate this event, which uses FAA contract funding.
HIMS Mini Seminar
Audience: Members and nonmembers
When: Annually
About: This one-day seminar provides the same types of information as the three-day course, focusing on identifying, treating, and rehabilitating pilots with a substance abuse problem.
HIMS/Aeromedical Seminar

Pilot Peer Symposium
Audience: All active and potential Pilot Assistance members
When: Held every other year, June 25–26, 2025, at ALPA's office in McLean, Va.
About: ALPA Pilot Assistance hosts a multiday Pilot Peer Symposium to introduce ALPA leadership and group volunteers to Pilot Assistance Group (Aeromedical, Critical Incident Response Program, Canadian Pilot Assistance, HIMS, Pilot Peer Support, and Professional Standards) activities, functions, and capabilities.
