Scholarships for Aviation Students

One of the biggest challenges for aspiring aviators can be how to finance your education and training. Fortunately, a number of aviation-specific scholarships are available.

List of Aviation Scholarships

The University Aviation Association compiled this partial list of aviation scholarships.

Be sure to apply for any scholarships you are eligible for, as well as federal and state financial assistance programs. Some colleges also offer scholarships specific to their aviation department—contact the financial aid office for more information.

Featured Scholarships

The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation

The Foundation was established in memory of LeRoy Homer, First Officer of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, PA, on September 11, 2001. Its mission is to encourage and support young adults pursuing careers as professional pilots. The Foundation also promotes awareness of aviation careers to disadvantaged youth.

Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund

This fund was created in memory of Captain Jason Dahl and in honor of all the victims of the 9/11 attacks. It provides annual aviation scholarships to young people aspiring to become pilots.

Air Line Pilots Association Scholarship

This annual undergraduate scholarship is available to the children of deceased or medically retired ALPA pilots. It is not limited to aviation-related majors.

Costas Sivyllis ALPA Education Scholarship

Multiple scholarships, totaling up to $15,000, will be awarded to candidates who demonstrate exemplary aviation career goals.

Royal Canadian Air Force Foundation (RCAF)

The RCAF Student Scholarship is available to Canada’s next generation of aviation and aerospace leaders. It assists post-secondary students studying in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields who are planning careers in aviation or aerospace.
