Leadership & Advanced Safety Training (LAST)

The mission of the Leadership and Advanced Safety Training (LAST) course is to enhance experienced air safety representatives’ knowledge of the protocols regarding voluntary safety programs and administration of an MEC’s safety committee. It equips ALPA safety volunteers with the skills necessary to effectively address aviation hazards utilizing a Safety Management System (SMS) approach, including Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA), and other data sources. Participants will be ready to assume leadership positions within their safety structure, with the aim of effectively identifying, addressing, and mitigating safety hazards.
ALPA policy requires that prior to attending any ALPA International training course, pilots must obtain the approval of their MEC Central Air Safety, Security, Jumpseat, or Pilot Assistance chair, or MEC chair as appropriate. Additionally, the training courses are designed to be taken in sequence and therefore may require completing a prerequisite training program(s). By submitting your registration, you are verifying that you have (1) received the necessary MEC approval, as appropriate for you to attend the course and (2) have met that course’s prerequisites. If you don't know who to contact to obtain MEC approval for you to attend, call 888-FLY-ALPA or email ALPA at easmeetings@alpa.org.
