25 Years with ALPA

Spirit Capt. Andy Nelson was reelected executive vice president, Group A, of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, on Oct. 30, 2024, at ALPA’s biennial Board of Directors meeting. His two-year term began on Jan. 1, 2025.

Capt. Nelson is an Airbus A320 pilot based in Las Vegas, Nev., and has previously served as a member of the ALPA Leadership Committee and the Board of Directors Steering Committee. In addition, he has held the offices of Spirit Master Executive Council vice chair and Local Executive Council 18 first officer status rep. He also acted as chair of his pilot group’s Negotiating Committee and served as a Negotiating Committee member and a Professional Standards Committee member.

Prior to flying for Spirit, Capt. Nelson was a pilot for Grant Aviation; Larry’s Flying Service of Fairbanks, Alaska; and the Frontier Flying Service.

Capt. Nelson graduated from the University of Alaska where he studied aviation management and the Big Bend Community College where he studied commercial flight training. He currently resides in Denver, Colo., with his wife and two daughters.
